Matadalan ba Malu is an entirely community funded program. Thanks to the generous support by REW, Matadalan Ba Malu has been able to offer a limited number of tuition-free placements each year to successful candidates. However, the costs and services associated with this program extend well beyond the tuition component (eg. airfares, passport and visas, medical insurance, food and accommodation etc.). Matadalan Ba Malu is therefore seeking to develop relationships with donors, fundraising bodies, organisations that have an interest in developing language skills of East-Timorese women and those who can provide additional organisational and financial assistance to successful applicants.
Financial support, as well as accommodation and other forms of support, have been generously donated by a wide range of a people, community and faith-based groups, businesses and other organisations since 2005. We are proud that many organisations have supported the program, and in doing so have assisted East Timorese women and also helped spread knowledge of the program and its objectives. Some of these are listed here, and we thank them for their support and we look forward to others joining the list!
